Having assisted with the organisation and on the day running of the annual Boston to Skegness Seabank Marathon for numerous years, it is with deep sadness to hear of it’s cancellation for the foreseeable future.
The event has seen runners come to Lincolnshire from not just the county, but from all corners of the U.K. for several years, raising money for Macmillan Cancer Support and many other fabulous causes.
Our team have given up their time each year voluntarily to support the marathon, both in it’s preparation and on the day.
Speaking of the event cancellation, Black Cat Designs of Boston Director, Nathan Bryant, said: “The Seabank Marathon has always been a fantastic fundraising event for local and national charities, and one that I have always held very close to my heart, having seen my father both run and marshal it many times. Macmillan has always been a charity which I’ve held close to my heart for several personal reasons, and to see yet another outstanding fundraising event cancel due to various underlying issues is deeply saddening. I know I can certainly speak for all the team when we offer our sincerest of thanks to all the runners and volunteers who have joined us in supporting the marathon for it’s duration”.
The Marathons cancellation was first announced on the Seabank Marathon’s Facebook page on January 23rd.
